Deb - we only buy Home brand dry stuff! Surely it can't be that tasty....
Wendy - Ewwww is right. That's exactly what I think when I find him doing it.
Sheryl - He already has the moist nose happening because he's picked up a cold somewhere (and kindly passed it to me as well...), no need to eat dog food to get one!
To be honest, I am a bit surprised he's the first pet food eater in our family. Although when we had cats years ago when the big guys were younger, the food was always downstairs so it was hard to get to. We only got the dogs at the start of this year and by then Miss R had passed that stage, I guess. But for Rowan it's just a bit too convenient...he just steps out the back door and gets stuck into it....

In the meantime, shall I recommend a good well-balanced premium dog food? ;)
We had one that ate cat food if we didn't hide the bowl.
Ewwww!
But he will have such shiny hair and moist nose....
